Industrial Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift

Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and basic physical; have the ability to work full-time, 40+ hours per week. The hours for this role are 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.
Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety-sensitive.
Position Summary:
Based in Ipswich, MA, the Maintenance will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Production Manager to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):
The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
Performs all general maintenance duties, including painting, cleaning, fixture/tooling fabrication, installing belts, bearings, chains, etc.
Responsible for maintaining plant equipment, including preventative maintenance and new equipment installation.
Performs mechanical skills, including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting of all heat treat furnaces and plant equipment.
Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Conduct scheduled inspections of fluid levels, water flows, quench oils, and filters; notify supervisor of issues as needed.
Assist in equipment performance testing per company-wide and manufacturer’s guidelines.
Accurately record and document all completed maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
Implement the facility’s preventative maintenance program.
Maintain the inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and replacement parts.
Performs instrument calibration and temperature surveys.
Responsible for building maintenance as needed/required/directed.
Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
Bring any unusual problem or irregularity to the supervisor.
Maintain a clean and organized environment in the Maintenance Department work area; promptly clean up after maintenance and repair work is completed within the facility.
This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customers’ inventory and, as such, will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.
Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
Qualifications:

This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.
Education – College or technical degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred; High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of industrial maintenance experience required.
Minimum one year of experience in the heat treating industry is highly desired.
Must have experience with welding, cutting, brazing, etc., and working knowledge of electricity.
Must have general knowledge of hydraulics and furnaces, and be able to read and interpret blueprints.
Ability to function as an effective team member through good communication and cooperation to meet plant goals.
Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification.
May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
Knowledge and hands-on experience of computer applications, including Microsoft Office and databases, is required.

Must be able to work in an industrial environment at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
Ability to bend, pull, stoop, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and reach to perform functions.
Ability to move/lift up to 35 lbs.
May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
Ability to hear in person and via phone.
Pay & Benefits Information
The hourly pay range for this position is $25 – $35 per hour. Starting pay is determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law.
