Position Summary:
The Strategic Business Development Manager – Additive Manufacturing & Casting is responsible for identifying, shaping, and developing strategic growth opportunities for Bodycote across the aerospace engine manufacturing ecosystem, with a particular focus on additive manufacturing and investment casting supply chains. The role builds a structured mid- to long-term pipeline by positioning Bodycote early in component industrialization and qualification routes, ensuring that technologies such as Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP), heat treatment, and surface technologies are integrated where they create the highest technical and economic value. Acting as a strategic interface between Bodycote’s global technical capabilities and the aerospace manufacturing ecosystem, the role translates value chain insights into qualified opportunities, strategic partnerships, and business cases supporting capability deployment and long-term industrial positioning.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):
· Map the aerospace engine manufacturing ecosystem, with particular focus on additive manufacturing and investment casting supply chains, identifying key players, industrial relationships, and component production routes
· Analyze the aerospace engine manufacturing ecosystem, with particular focus on additive manufacturing and investment casting supply chains, to identify strategic growth opportunities for Bodycote’s post-processing technologies (HIP, heat treatment, surface technologies)
· Identify, prioritize, and develop high-value component opportunities where Bodycote can create differentiated value within additive manufacturing and casting production routes
· Build and maintain a structured pipeline of mid- to long-term strategic opportunities linked to aerospace engine programs, additive manufacturing adoption, and evolving manufacturing routes
· Shape and mature opportunities by engaging upstream in component design, industrialization, and qualification phases, positioning Bodycote technologies as critical enablers of production readiness and performance
· Drive the development and progression of strategic opportunities by coordinating technical, operational, and commercial stakeholders across Bodycote’s global network
· Translate ecosystem insights into actionable growth initiatives, including component targeting, supplier engagement strategies, and technology positioning within aerospace manufacturing value chains
· Develop business cases supporting capability deployment, industrial investment, or qualification programs required to secure targeted opportunities
· Provide structured market, technical, and competitive intelligence related to additive manufacturing, casting technologies, materials evolution, and aerospace manufacturing trends to support opportunity prioritization and strategic planning
· Maintain structured tracking of ecosystem insights, opportunity pipeline development, and strategic initiatives through CRM and internal reporting tools to ensure visibility and disciplined execution
Qualifications:
· This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.
· 10+ years of experience in Aerospace & Defense manufacturing or supplier ecosystem.
· Experience working with aerospace engine OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers (e.g., Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, GE Aerospace, Safran, MTU, ITP Aero, etc.)
· Exposure to additive manufacturing, investment casting, or advanced materials processing in aerospace applications
· Strong knowledge of Aerospace & Defense primes, including program structures, qualification processes, long-term agreements, and supply-chain dynamics
· Proven ability to build credibility and influence at senior and executive levels, both externally and internally
· Demonstrated success leading matrixed, global teams without direct authority to deliver strategic outcomes
· Strong commercial acumen, including pricing, contract negotiation, and value-based selling in a technical or industrial services environment
· High integrity, ownership mentality, and comfort making decisions in complex, ambiguous environments
· Willingness to travel ~60-70%, primarily across North America and Europe
· Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Business, or related field preferred); MBA or equivalent experience is a plus
Physical & Mental Demands:
· Ability to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time, including desk work, driving, and air travel
· Ability to travel frequently (approximately 60%), including domestic and international travel
· Manual dexterity to use standard office and mobile devices
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach during customer, site, and office visits
· Ability to lift and carry up to 25–30 lbs. on an occasional basis
· May be exposed to industrial environments, including noise, heat, fumes, or humidity
· Cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions, including communication, decision-making, and problem-solving
· Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
· Visual and hearing acuity sufficient to perform job duties in person and via virtual platforms
