Position Summary:
The Regional Quality Manager provides metallurgical, heat treating and quality system assistance to the Aerospace, Defense, & Energy (ADE) East region. Will be responsible for the systems to ensure that products/materials/services supplied/provided to customers meet the contractual requirements established by customers and procedures. Has the organizational freedom to identify problems related to quality and correct, initiate action for their correction or stop any work or activity that violates the established quality standards.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):
· Establish, implement and maintain the Bodycote aerospace centric Nadcap, AS9100, Med Accred and other quality standards in compliance with the corporate quality system
· Direct and supervise the work of the region’s quality departments in a collaborative way
· Establish site specific quality procedures, as required, to support regional quality objectives.
· Provide training to individuals whose work affects the quality requirements of the corporate quality system.
· Review customer proposals, requests for quotations and/or purchase orders, including changes, to determine quality requirements, and insure their input into internal planning.
· Establish/maintain relations with customer representatives in quality related activities, including source inspection, audits and process surveys.
· Interface with plants and other regions to provide assistance, resolve problems, and monitor work affecting quality.
· Ensure conformance to quality program requirements through external/internal audits, corrective action program and qualify associates through testing and training.
· Maintain supplier qualification to insure their ability to perform work meeting quality standards and obtaining process approvals.
· Must assist with regional implementation and management of various quality initiatives.
· Provide metallurgical, heat treating and quality technical support to other Quality Managers.
· Support sites in their pursuit of specific customer quality approvals
· Must be able to represent the company at various technical meetings.
· Participate in Nadcap audits and join AS 9100 audits preferred. Review all major audit findings and approval finding responses.
· Preliminary review of all major metallurgical or quality related anomalies that require customer notification.
· Preside over periodic Quality Managers’ meetings.
· Actively support sales team in obtaining and retaining business.
· Must work in a manner consistent with EHS when on site.
· Acts as a member of the management team and performs other duties as dictated by position.
· Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism.
· May have access to compensation information of other employees or applicants in this role and as such cannot disclose the pay of other employees or applicants to other individuals.
· May have access to proprietary and third party information necessary to the business and as such will perform duties in an ethical and professional manner
Qualifications:
· This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder
· Education – Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with ten years of experience in Quality Control and plant management with a deep working knowledge of Nadcap for both Vacuum and atmosphere types of heat treating, metal joining and welding.
· Must possess basic metallurgical knowledge obtained through formal university or college training (or equivalent).
· Requires experience and practical knowledge of commercial heat treatment and brazing of aerospace alloys including steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel, brass, copper, etc.
· Requires a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
· Must maintain current driver’s license in good standing.
· Must be capable of writing general procedures for heat treatment of specific alloys, in accordance with customer needs and making written recommendations for improving Quality Assurance Systems and Procedures.
· Must be thoroughly familiar with Nadcap, AS9100 and AMS2750 quality systems for a multi-site region
· Must have or be willing to obtain Six Sigma Green Belt
· Must be detail oriented and able to meet deadlines.
· Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
· Knowledge and hands on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required.
· Ability to travel throughout region up to 50%.
Physical & Mental Demands:
· Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an office/industrial environment.
· Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
· Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.
· Ability to lift 25-30 lbs.
· May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
· Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
· Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
· Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
· Ability to hear in person and via phone.
