Position Summary:
The Account Manager, based in the U.S., reports to the Midwest Regional Sales Manager and is responsible for driving profitable growth of Bodycote’s thermal processing and specialist technology services across the Aerospace, Defense, Energy (Oil & Gas and Nuclear), Power Generation, and Medical markets.
This role is responsible for generating new leads, expanding business within existing accounts, developing new customer relationships, and identifying opportunities to introduce Bodycote’s capabilities into new applications and markets across North America. Success requires a hands-on, technically oriented, and solution-focused approach to application development, customer engagement, and business development.
The Account Manager builds and manages a robust sales pipeline, develops strategic account plans, and accelerates revenue growth while maintaining strong customer relationships. Collaboration across Bodycote’s regional, technical, and operational teams is essential to leverage the company’s full range of capabilities, develop integrated customer solutions, and identify opportunities to expand Bodycote’s market share.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to the following.
· Develop and grow new business by prospecting for target customers, applications, and markets that align with Bodycote’s thermal processing and specialist technology capabilities.
· Manage and expand an assigned customer portfolio by developing relationships, understanding customer needs, protecting existing business, and identifying opportunities to increase Bodycote’s share of customer spend.
· Identify and develop new applications for Bodycote services, working with customers to understand their manufacturing processes and determine where heat treatment, HIP, surface technology, testing, or other Bodycote capabilities can provide value.
· Promote and sell Bodycote’s full range of capabilities by connecting customer requirements with appropriate technologies, facilities, technical expertise, and processing solutions across the Bodycote network.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with key customer stakeholders, including engineering, purchasing, quality, operations, supply chain, and leadership, to uncover business opportunities and strengthen customer partnerships.
· Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline by qualifying opportunities, establishing next steps, maintaining accurate forecasts, and consistently progressing opportunities toward revenue.
· Lead customer opportunities from initial discovery through quotation, negotiation, qualification, and implementation, coordinating with technical, operations, quality, and commercial teams as needed.
· Develop strategic account plans and conduct regular business reviews to assess customer performance, identify growth opportunities, understand competitive activity, and establish actions to increase revenue and profitability.
· Use Salesforce (SFDC) and other business tools to manage customer and sales activity, analyze performance, forecast revenue, evaluate quoting profitability, and provide accurate sales reporting.
· Travel regularly throughout the assigned territory to meet with customers and prospects, conduct site visits, support business development activities, attend industry events, and collaborate with Bodycote facilities and internal teams; overnight travel may be required.

· Education: College degree preferred or equivalent experience.
· ITAR Compliance: This position requires compliance with ITAR regulations; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or lawful Permanent Residents.
· Experience: 5+ years of experience in sales, account management, business development, customer service, or a related field. Experience in a technical, industrial, manufacturing, or engineered-products environment preferred.
· Business Development: Demonstrated ability to develop new business, grow existing customer relationships, identify customer needs, and develop solutions that create value.
· Technical & Commercial Skills: Ability to understand and communicate technical requirements, specifications, processes, and applications; develop quotations; evaluate pricing and profitability; and manage customer expectations.
· Communication & Problem Solving: Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively with customers and internal teams at all levels.
· Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with medical, aerospace, and/or military specifications and standards preferred.
· Professional Standards: Commitment to customer service, quality, ethics, and compliance with Bodycote policies, procedures, and quality standards.
· Travel: Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory, including overnight travel as required.
Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of, but are not limited to the following.
· Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an office/industrial environment.
· Ability to lift 25-30 lbs.
· May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
